poster for 2020 Virtual CRHNet Symposium & DRR Roundtable

CRHNet is committed to advancing disaster risk reduction (DRR) in Canada and beyond.  CRHNet applied for and received funding to organize the National Roundtable on Disaster Risk Reduction on a pilot basis under the Communications/Information Exchange Projects stream of Public Safety Canada’s Policy Development Contribution Program (PDCP). In consideration of the changing times, CRHNet will be hosting the annual CRHNet Symposium and the 2020 Roundtable in a virtual format this year. While we all look forward to meeting face to face again in the future, we are excited to be able to innovate with resilience in mind and continue to communicate with stakeholders through this historic time.

“CRHNet is excited to be offering these programs online and virtually in the fall of 2020,” says CRHNet President, Patricia Martel. “We feel this innovative approach, with travel being removed from the equation, will allow more people to participate. CRHNet will explore challenges and solutions from a multi-sector contingent and better understand what current obstacles are preventing better DRR solutions.  This format will also allow us to highlight many solutions and efforts that are being utilized and tested to improve resiliency in Canada.”

“Public Safety Canada is proud to support a new pilot initiative for the 2020 Roundtable on Disaster Risk Reduction,” says Stephanie Durand, Director General for Emergency Management Policy and Outreach at Public Safety Canada. “This pilot is an opportunity for CRHNet to play a leadership role in organizing and planning the Roundtable. It will also improve efficiency by jointly planning two events that both bring together DRR stakeholders across Canada.”

CRHNet envisions the 2020 Symposium will happen throughout the fall, and we will be announcing programming and speaking opportunities soon.  We welcome input from those that have been historically involved.
